Navigation & shortcuts

Six main areas, legacy URL redirects, and power-user shortcuts.

Six main areas

Teamtastic keeps top-level navigation intentionally small so small teams are not lost in menus. You will always see these six areas:

  • Today (/), personal daily focus: your assignments, morning brief, who's out, upcoming calls. Managers also get Insights and Friction tabs.
  • Tasks (/tasks), kanban boards per workstream team, org-wide pool, and Projects tab.
  • Inbox (/inbox), activity feed plus Messages (DMs and group channels).
  • Team (/team), people roster, PTO calendar, scheduled calls, and invites (managers).
  • Wiki (/wiki), org knowledge base (managers edit; members read).
  • Settings (/settings), profile, notifications, integrations, and admin tools.

Wiki and Settings sit toward the bottom of the sidebar as secondary destinations you visit less often than Tasks or Inbox.

Tabs inside main areas

  • Tasks: board view per team; List, Timeline, and Projects tabs for different views.
  • Inbox: Activity (feed) and Messages (?tab=messages) for DMs and channels.
  • Team: People, PTO (?tab=pto), Calls (?tab=calls), Invite (managers).
  • Today: default view; managers may switch to Insights or Friction.

Legacy URLs still work

Older bookmarks and email links redirect automatically; you do not need to update them:

  • /feed → Inbox
  • /dm → Inbox → Messages
  • /people → Team
  • /pto → Team → PTO
  • /calls → Team → Calls
  • /me → Today

Command palette

Press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) anywhere in the authenticated app to open the command palette. From there you can:

  • Jump to a page (Tasks, Wiki, Settings, etc.).
  • Search tasks and people as you type (minimum two characters).
  • Jump directly to a channel or DM thread — channels and DM threads load on first open and stay searchable by name for the session.
  • Start common actions without reaching for the mouse.

If your workspace has Ask enabled, the palette may also answer natural-language questions about tasks and wiki content. See AI features.

Keyboard shortcuts

Press ? (or click the Help button in the header) to open the shortcuts cheat sheet. Shortcuts cover navigation, focusing search, and dismissing panels. Press Esc to close modals and the palette.

Composer shortcuts

Inside any message composer:

  • Enter — send message
  • Shift+Enter — new line
  • ⌘B / Ctrl+B — bold
  • ⌘I / Ctrl+I — italic
  • ⌘⇧S / Ctrl+Shift+S — strikethrough
  • ⌘` / Ctrl+` — inline code
  • / at the start of the input — open slash command menu (/gif, /call, /task)

Mobile navigation

On smaller screens the sidebar collapses into a mobile menu. Core flows (checking Today, replying to a DM, moving a task) remain available; prefer the native app width for kanban drag-and-drop on phones.

Org switcher

If your email belongs to multiple workspaces, use the org switcher in the header to change context. All data (tasks, messages, wiki) is scoped to the active workspace. Switching does not merge notifications across orgs.

Suggested daily path

  1. Start on Today for priorities and the morning brief.
  2. Check Inbox → Activity for mentions and approvals.
  3. Work from Tasks boards during focus time.
  4. Use Inbox → Messages for realtime conversation.
  5. End the day by updating task statuses so manager dashboards stay accurate.
