Troubleshooting

Sign-in, invites, realtime, uploads, permissions, and billing.

Cannot sign in

  • Use the same email address that received the workspace invite.
  • Complete email verification: check spam for the link; verification is required for invites and billing on many workspaces.
  • Try forgot password if you use email/password auth.
  • If your org uses Google or Microsoft SSO, sign in with that provider instead of creating a separate password.
  • Still blocked? Email support@teamtastic.net with your workspace name and screenshot of the error.

Invite link expired or invalid

Invite links expire intentionally. Ask a Director or Manager to resend from Settings → Team → Pending invites. Do not forward old links. Generate a fresh one.

Public registration that creates a new empty workspace is usually disabled. You must join through an invite.

Messages not updating live

DMs and channels use Server-Sent Events (SSE) to app.teamtastic.net. If messages only appear after refresh:

  • Check corporate VPN, firewall, or proxy rules: long-lived HTTP streams must be allowed.
  • Try another browser or network to isolate the issue.
  • Refresh once; if it persists, note browser version and network for support.

Web push not working

  • Confirm browser permission for notifications.
  • Enable push per event under Settings → Notifications.
  • On mobile, install the PWA or use a supported browser.
  • Admins must configure VAPID keys server-side. If never configured, push will not deliver.

Not receiving email

  • Check spam and promotions folders.
  • Confirm the event is enabled for email in notification settings.
  • Invite and verification emails depend on correct AUTH_URL configuration; admins should verify deployment settings.

File upload failures

Task attachments upload to cloud storage via signed URLs. Failures often mean:

  • File exceeds size limits.
  • Corporate proxy blocked the upload request.
  • Workspace storage is not configured (admins see 503 "not configured").

Try a smaller file or different network.

Permission denied / missing buttons

Teamtastic uses role gates on every admin action.

  • Member: cannot invite users, edit wiki, open billing, or configure integrations.
  • Manager: PTO approval, Insights, Friction, exports, rules; not always billing.
  • Director: full org admin including billing and invites.

UI label Director = database role OWNER. See Getting started.

Why can't I see Friction or Insights?

Those tabs are manager-only. Ask your Director to upgrade your org role if you need them for your job.

Why can't I edit the Wiki?

Members read; Managers and Directors publish. Request an edit from someone with publish access.

AI quota exceeded

Each user has a daily token budget. Wait until the next day or ask your Director about plan limits. Core features work without AI.

Ask or search not finding content

Ask requires embeddings infrastructure and an org feature flag. Text search may still work for titles and people. Confirm with your admin that Ask is enabled.

Billing out of sync

Directors: open Settings → Billing and refresh. Seat counts update after invites are accepted. If Paddle payment succeeded but plan still shows Free after 24 hours, contact support with payment reference; webhook delivery may need investigation.
