Notifications

Quiet-by-default alerts, quiet hours, and per-channel preferences.

Quiet by default

Teamtastic assumes you do not want 50 pings on day one. New accounts start with minimal notifications enabled, typically PTO decisions and a few critical events. You opt in per event type for in-app, email, and web push independently.

Open Settings → Notifications and turn on only what you would actually act on.

Three channels

  • In-app: bell icon and notification list; respects quiet hours.
  • Email: transactional delivery via Resend; check spam if missing.
  • Web push: browser or PWA notifications on desktop and mobile.

Enabling email for an event does not automatically enable push, configure each channel explicitly.

Event types

There are many event types, including:

  • Task assigned, status changed, due soon, blocked escalations.
  • @mentions in tasks and channels.
  • PTO approved or denied.
  • Direct messages and channel messages.
  • Call scheduled or changed.
  • Morning brief and digest delivery.
  • Stale-task nudges and automation-driven alerts.

Manager accounts may see additional rows for org-level events. The settings UI groups rows so you can scan quickly.

Quiet hours

Define windows when in-app notifications are suppressed (common pattern: 6pm–8am local time and weekends. Email may still send for events you enabled unless your org configures otherwise. Quiet hours use your profile timezone) keep it accurate under Settings → Profile.

Web push setup

  1. Allow notifications when the browser prompts you, or install the PWA on mobile.
  2. Enable push per event type in Settings → Notifications.
  3. If push never arrives, confirm browser permission, OS focus modes, and that VAPID is configured for your deployment (admins).

Inbox vs notifications

The Inbox feed shows history and context even when you were in quiet hours. The bell is for immediate attention. You can clear notifications without losing feed items.

Manager recommendations

Managers often enable: PTO requests, task blocked escalations, and morning brief email. ICs often enable: mentions, DMs, and task assigned. Avoid enabling "every status change" on large boards, noise hides real signals.

Troubleshooting

  • No email: verify address, spam folder, and that the event is enabled for email.
  • Too many pings: disable noisy events; use quiet hours.
  • Missing PTO alert: approver may have notifications off; use Today or the PTO queue.
